About 20 minutes ago I got of the phone after having a telephone conference with 3 PhD Nursing Professors at the U of A. Part of my requirement for graduation is to write a Master's Thesis and defend it to a "committee" (the 3 nursing professors) and today was THE day. One week ago I presented them with a 42 page paper that has taken 3 months to research and write. I created a PowerPoint presentation for our meeting today to highlight the important aspects of my paper. This has been a VERY time consuming process!!!
My chairperson started the conference by saying,
"Thank you for preparing the PowerPoint presentation but you won't be presenting it today."
That was not a good sign. The rest of the conversation consisted of each of the 3 woman ripping into my paper left and right. Their final suggestions changed the 1.) Purpose of my paper 2.) Focus of my paper 3.) Research included in my paper. Basically, toss out this piece of crap and start over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know why they had me write this paper in the first place, if they have all these grand ideas of what my paper SHOULD be, then they can write it.
I am beyond frustrated, overwhelmed, and totally pissed off.

Oh man, I can't even imagine. I would be pissed too. Maybe they do that to everyone??? Hang in there and hopefully this next time around will be your last. :)
I am SOOOO sorry! You'd think if they were going to be that particular about what you wrote, they would have told you that in advance. That totally sucks!!
Ah man girl. That's such a bummer. I would be thorougly pissed!!!! Knowing you, I'm sure it was great work too. Do you have to start all over now????

Ugh! How frustrating Amelia! That is crazy that they can do that, knowing how much time and effort you must have put into it. I'm sure it was awesome too, you are incredibly smart, how could it not be? It sounds like they were just a bunch of prissy nurse's on their high horse with their PhD. Boo to them! I'm sure your next go round won't be so bad. Just keep going, it'll be over before you know it. I'm so proud of you!
